Empowering Innovation and Extramural Success
The Liberal Arts Career Enhancement Award program, a collaboration between Research & Innovation (R&I) and the College of Liberal Arts, supports faculty in advancing their research and creative endeavors. This initiative provides financial resources and expert guidance to help faculty develop and submit competitive grant proposals, enhancing their scholarly and creative impact. By equipping faculty with the tools and support needed, the program positions their projects for success in securing extramural funding.
This program encourages innovative and bold projects that push disciplinary boundaries, advancing the College of Liberal Arts' contributions to scholarship and creative work.
Faculty are encouraged to prepare for the 2025 application cycle. Updated timelines and program details will be announced soon. Stay tuned for further updates.
To begin preparing for the 2025 application cycle, faculty should:
Start brainstorming and outlining innovative research or creative projects that align with the program's goals and eligibility criteria. Ensure the project has the potential to attract extramural funding.
Familiarize yourself with the program requirements, such as funding limits, submission deadlines, and mandatory deliverables (e.g., a proposal for at least $25,000 in external funding).
Identify potential internal or external collaborators who can contribute to the project and begin discussing roles and responsibilities.
Draft a budget plan for the funding request, considering allowable expenses such as salary, travel, equipment, or other project-related costs.
Use tools like UTEP’s Expertise Connector or Pivot to identify potential external funding agencies that align with your proposed project.
Participate in available grant-writing workshops, training sessions, or informational events provided by R&I to build skills and understand expectations for successful proposals.
Contact Research Development to discuss your project ideas and receive tailored guidance on strengthening your application.
Map out key milestones for proposal development, including drafting, reviewing, and submitting your application. Allocate sufficient time for external reviews if required.
The proposal should include the following information:
By starting these steps early, faculty can position themselves for a competitive application and maximize the resources available through the program.
