Process and Preparation
Students are encouraged to prepare well and pass the practice and TExES Exams on their first attempt. You are preparing for the TExES exam; the practice exam is a formative assessment which helps you identify your strengths, weaknesses, and preparedness for the state exam.
Passing score for the content practice Exam is 80%.
In order to take the TExES content exam, you must:
- Pass the content practice Exam on 240tutoring.com.
- Apply and be accepted to the Educator Preparation Program.
State law allows you to attempt the TExES exam a maximum of five times. Passing score on the TExES exam is 240 out of 300.
It is important to learn everything about the test and to identify what you know and what you don’t know. Gather resources and study the content which you do not know at a high school or freshman college level. Learn strategies, take LOTS of practice tests and assess yourself. Review any areas in which you are deficient and take additional practice assessments. Repeat these steps until you are scoring at least an 80% on your assessments.
The College of Science offers a TExES Boot Camp test preparation program. We have transitioned all the math and science curriculum and materials from the TExES Boot Camp to an online, self-paced course. This online course will provide you with the same comprehensive content, expert guidance, and valuable resources that you would have received in the Boot Camp, but with the added flexibility of self-paced learning.
