No. You must be considered a Texas resident and must have graduated from a Texas high school in order to apply.

No. If your application is not submitted by January 16, 2024, your application will not be considered.

Yes. You are required to have 2 letters of recommendation as part of the application.

You will need to submit 3 short answer questions and 2 essays. For more details, please download this document so you can see the essay prompts.

You will be invited to interview with members of the Terry Foundation before any finalists are selected.

The Terry Foundation Scholarship is a merit scholarship, not need-based. Although the application requires financial information for your household, it is not a determining factor for you to be considered.

Yes! You can apply for the Terry Scholarship at UTEP while you complete your FAFSA for the upcoming school year. For more information on deadlines, please visit the Office of Student Financial Aid’s website. 

No. You can still apply to the Terry Scholarship regardless of your siblings or family members being current or former Terry scholars.

You will be notified the month of February if you are selected as a semi-finalist and move on to the next round.
