Skov Essay Competition on Business Ethics
Launched by the College of Business Administration in the 2013-2014 year, the Skov Essay Competition on Business Ethics is an annual essay writing contest for senior high school students from public and private schools in the El Paso region, including the El Paso, Ysleta, Fabens, Socorro, Clint, San Elizario, and Tornillo Independent School Districts. Each year, the College’s Center for Multicultural Management and Ethics ask eligible students to participate in the competition by writing about a topic that challenges them in the area of how ethical issues relate to business.
This year’s essay topic is involved with corporate social responsibility: As technology enables people to work anytime, anywhere, what ethical issues does working at home raise?
The College of Business Administration created the competition as a way to consistently interact with the community and positively influence the ethical climate in the El Paso region. Primary funding for the competition is generously provided by Robert E. and Jacqueline Skov, and additional funding is kindly provided by United Bank of El Paso del Norte.
The Center for Multicultural Management and Ethics is located in the world's largest bi-national metropolitan area. This location enables us to pursue cultural, social, and academic opportunities not available on most university campuses. Using these opportunities, we will become a trustworthy source for excellent research and teaching, dedicated to promoting multicultural management and ethics. Our goal is to facilitate a renaissance of multicultural understanding that is based on sound ethical foundations.
