Public Health Professor Delivers Keynote Presentation at Index Chihuahua Symposium
Index Chihuahua, a non-profit organization funded by the maquiladora industry, invited Dr. Gabriel Ibarra-Mejia to their annual symposium on health, safety and environment. This event is held annually, and gathers health and safety, human resources, and policy professionals from the majority of manufacturing companies in Chihuahua City. Dr. Ibarra-Mejia delivered the keynote presentation at the symposium, "Quality of Work-Life in Manufacturing Industry Workers” which addresses the difficulties in establishing parameters to measure quality of work life, acknowledges its determinants, and presents evidence-base recommendations for lessening the impact of organizational change in workers' overall well being and quality of work-life. Among the more than one hundred attendees, local, state, and federal government officials from the Mexican labor and health departments were also present.
