Dr. Maartje Van den BogaardDr. Maartje Van den Bogaard holds advanced degrees in Education from the University of Groningen and Engineering Education from TU Delft, the Netherlands. She worked as faculty, consultant, and as Head of the TU Delft STEM Education program and as research associate at University of Michigan and Iowa State University. Dr. Van den Bogaard's focuses on student success and complexity in education. |

Robyn K. Pinilla, Ph.D.Robyn K. Pinilla, Ph.D., joins the BELSS faculty as an assistant professor of early childhood education. She taught early childhood and elementary special education and was an assistant principal in Dallas ISD before studying early childhood mathematics at Southern Methodist University. Robyn is excited to partner with schools to support educators in teaching spatial reasoning through mathematics. |

Dr. Liru HuDr. Hu's research interests include dialogic education, visual learning analytics, computer-supported collaborative learning, and complexity in education. Her primary goal is to explore the role of academic discourse in teaching and learning, as well as the potential of technology to support dialogic education. She earned a doctoral degree in learning sciences from the University of Hong Kong. |

Dr. Carolina Teran LopezCarolina Terán López, Ph. D., is our new Assistant Professor of Instruction for the MA-DESJE program. She graduated from the Teaching, Learning, and Culture doctoral program, concentrating in Sociocultural Foundations of Education. Her research seeks to recover the untold stories of first-generation bilingual Latina doctoral students, validate experiences and knowledge found in Communities of Color, and foster better academic experiences for underrepresented students. Dr. Terán López has worked for the Office of the Provost and the Office of Study Abroad. More recently, she taught for the Entering Student Experience program. |
