WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU’RE ADMITTED TO THE LAHP
First, email the LAHP Assistant a brief bio and a photo so we can put you on the LAHP webpage. Then, get a degree plan form from the LAHP Assistant, visit the LAHP website to see if you’ve taken any honors-designated courses, or completed any other courses eligible for LAHP credit. Complete the degree plan and return it to the LAHP Assistant. Always include course numbers, class names, terms and CRNs, so we can get honors designations on your transcript.
Next, find out what the upcoming LAHP theory/methodology course is, and register for it (unless it’s literally impossible to do so). Get the honors project/thesis contract form for your major department from the LAHP Assistant. Begin thinking about your honors project and your potential faculty mentor, NOW.
Then it’s time for the fun stuff. Let the LAHP Assistant know what size shirt you wear, so we can get you a free LAHP polo shirt and t-shirt. Stop by the LAHP Assistant’s or LAHP director's office to get the door code for the LAHP lounge. Go to Facebook (if you’re on Facebook) and like the UTEP Liberal Arts Honors Program page.
Begin recruiting for the LAHP! We bet you have smart friends. Tell them about the program. Share the LAHP flyer.
Finally, begin thinking about how to improve the LAHP now. What speakers should we bring in? What subject areas should we try to get for theory/methodology courses? How can we raise funds? You’re part of this program now. Please plan to be an ACTIVE part of the LAHP
