The Institute is a co-organizer of the new Southwest Borderlands regional chapter of the Scholars Strategy Network (SSN) with UTEP’s Center for Community Engagement (CCE). We are bringing together faculty, graduate students, and community partners interested in using research to engage with pressing public issues in the region and ensure that our voices, values, and expertise are part of the conversation. Membership is free and open to college- and university-based scholars at all career stages.
This national organization connects college- and university-based researchers with policymakers, journalists, and the broader public to make academic research more accessible and impactful. The SSN helps scholars inform public policy and civic life by helping them share research in clear, useful, and timely ways. With more than 1,800 members across the country, SSN is committed to strengthening democracy and advancing evidence-based policy.
Fill out the application, and once approved, you will be listed on the SSN’s public directory and have access to resources, trainings, and a national network of public scholars.
