Parents and Families
Hello UTEP Parents:
Allow me to acknowledge your work in supporting your son/daughter as he/she enters college life. It was not so long ago when you dropped him/her off at 1 st grade and now he/she is transitioning into college life. How time flies! Now that your student has decided to attend UTEP, I want to ask that you encourage him/her to visit with the UTEP Career Center. The University Career Center has dedicated staff who will sit with your student and talk about how he/she can reach their ideal career goal. We understand that the “ideal career” needs to be unpacked in many ways and that there are specific actions and targets that students need to complete for another door to open. It is really not a big ask given that one of the main reasons students attend college, nowadays, is to have better employment options after graduation. Go ahead and nudge them!
For your information, the Career Center supports UTEP students in the following ways:
- Career Advising
- Job search assistance (on- and off campus jobs)
- Connections to employers for internship opportunities
- Career events/fairs
- Professional development workshops
- Host employers looking to hire college graduates, but most importantly
- We want to connect 1:1 with your student to provide support!
Thank you for taking the time to review our site and I hope you follow us on any of our social media channels where we share a great deal of career content (@utepcareers). I know that as a parent of a college student you can continue to influence your student and help ensure their success. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to me at email@example.com.
