Get my Miner Gold Card:
How do I get my Miner Gold Card?
There are two ways to get your card if you are enrolled for at least one class or employed by UTEP:
- Upload your photo for your Miner Gold Card: https://get.cbord.com/mgco/full/login.php you will receive further instrutions afterward - BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR EMAIL! OR

Can I get my card before I am registered for classes?
- No, you need to be registered for at least one class before we can issue your Miner Gold Card.
Is there a charge for my first Miner Gold Card?
- Yes, there is a $10.00 card issuance fee charged to your account the first time you register. You will not be charged again unless you need a replacement.
Lost Miner Gold Card:
My Miner Gold Card was lost/stolen, how do I replace it?
- Please contact the office immediately so we can deactivate your card! You can then follow the instructions above to replace your card.
- Note: There is a $20.00 replacement fee for students and a $25.00 replacement fee for Faculty/Staff.
If I find find my lost/stolen ID after I've replaced it, can you reactivate it and refund the replacement fee?
- No, the card system tracks the number of cards per account and cannot roll them back.
I have funds/meal plan/book loan/lab access on my card, will it be on my new Miner Gold Card?
- Yes. It is imperative you report your card missing as soon as you realize it especially if you have access or funds on your Miner Gold Card. We can deactive it and prevent anyone else from accessing those funds.
What is my Miner Gold Card used for?
You can add funds onto your Miner Gold Card accounts by depositing into your Miner Bucks or Miner Meals accounts and use your card similar to a debit card at eateries on campus and wherever Miner Bucks is accepted.
If you purchase a Meal Plan, you will need your Miner Gold Card to access your block of meals at the Pick 'n Shovel as they swipe your card for payment.
If you sign up for free student tickets and are eligible to receive it, your Miner Gold Card will act as your ticket to enter the games.
Any access into dormitories, labs, classes, inner campus parking/parking gates, are on your Miner Gold Card.
Each semester you are allotted a printing allocation from UTEP depending on how many credit hours you are registered for - you will need to swipe your Miner Gold Card in order to access these funds for printing.
Book Loan funds you receive will be made available on your Miner Gold Card as well.
How can I add funds to my Miner Bucks/Miner Meals accounts?
You can add money to your Miner Bucks and Miner Meals two ways. First, you can go online to your GET account and add it there using your debit/credit card. Second, you can go to the cashiers in the Mike Loya Building and deposit cash in either account. You will need to take a copy of the receipt to the Miner Gold Card Office to complete the process.
You can also add Miner Bucks with cash in small denominations to the Value Port machine, conveniently located in the Library for easy access to printing. There is also a Value Port located in the Computer Center at the Campbell Building.
Where can I use Miner Bucks or Miner Meals?
You can use your Miner Bucks at any eatery on campus, including restaurants, the bookstore (for anything they sell), and Pepsi vending machines.
Miner Meals can be used only at the food venues on campus.
I deposited money into my Miner Bucks/Miner Meals account but I am not going to need it after all, how can I get a refund?
You will need to email minergold@utep.edu with your request for a refund, ID number, which plan it is, and the amount. Please be aware the entire process can take 2-3 weeks.
I purchased a Meal Plan, can I cancel it?
Students have until Census Day of each semester to cancel their meal plans and receive a full refund if payment has been made. After Census Day, there are no cancellations allowed unless you withdraw from school.
Faculty/Staff meal plans are non-refundable.
Can I save my meal plan for next semester if I don't use it this semester?
No, student meal plans are only good for the semester in which they were purchased and do not roll over.
I applied for a book loan but will not use the entire amount, do I still have to repay the entire amount?
No, you only pay for what you use. The university performs book loan reversals during the semester where the unused funds are taken back so you will only pay for what you've used.
How often can I apply for a book loan during the semester?
You can only apply for a book loan once per semester.
How do I access my book loan funds?
You may use your funds to make purchases at the UTEP bookstore online using your ID number or in person with your Miner Gold Card.
Can you add lab (room/office/building) access to my Miner Gold Card?
No, we do not add access in this office. All access is added by your department via electronic request through Facilities Services.
