Cummins Empower Sessions Bring Industry Skills to ERP Academy Students
The Big Picture
Students in the Enterprise Resource Planning Academy at the Woody L. Hunt College of Business are learning how enterprise systems work.
Through a growing partnership with Cummins, they are also learning how to carry that knowledge into the workplace.
Cummins is supporting the Academy through its Cummins Empower Sessions, a series of professional development workshops designed to help students build the communication, confidence and career skills needed in business technology roles.
Why It Matters
Students entering the field need technical knowledge, but they also need to manage projects, communicate with stakeholders, navigate conflict and explain their value clearly.
The Cummins Empower Sessions help students connect and enforce these concepts.
What Happened
During the fall 2025 semester, Cummins led sessions focused on workplace readiness, including resume reviews, stakeholder management, and conflict management.
The Empower Sessions gave students direct guidance on how to present their experience, work with business partners, and handle professional challenges.
In spring 2026, Cummins continued the series with expanded sessions on elevator pitches and networking – helping students practice how to introduce themselves, build connections, and speak with confidence.
Beyond the Sessions
The partnership also extends into capstone projects, mentoring and applied learning opportunities.
Through those experiences, ERP Academy students are able to connect enterprise resource planning concepts with real business problems and industry expectations.
