Hunt College Helps Thrivent Pack 500 Bags at HSI Battle of the Brains
Hunt College students joined Thrivent and peers at HSI Battle of the Brains to pack 500 totes for new mothers in the Austin area.
The Big Picture
After the case, an evening of service.
After completing the 24-hour case challenge, Hunt College students joined peers for an evening with Thrivent at Austin’s Archer Hotel on Sept. 30.
The HSI Battle of the Brains event combined career opportunities, financial literacy, and community service.
What Happened
500 totes for new mothers.
Students heard from Thrivent representatives before helping pack 500 totes for new mothers in the Austin area. The project supported El Buen Samaritano, a nonprofit that helps Central Texas families access education, health services, and essential needs.
- Participants decorated the bags with hand-drawn images incorporating Thrivent’s logo.
- After the bags were packed, Thrivent presented El Buen Samaritano with a $5,000 donation.
Why It Matters
Supporting families in the host city.
Thrivent has supported community service at previous HSI Battle of the Brains competitions. This year’s project gave students a way to support families in the city hosting them.
