URSCI Honors Information
The COURI Undergraduate Research, Scholarly, and Creative Inquiry (URSCI) Honors award is designed to recognize students who have participated in multiple semesters of faculty-mentored research, scholarly, or creative inquiry.
When to Apply
UTEP Commencement/Graduation information
WE RECOMMEND THAT SUMMER GRADUATES apply for the Fall Commencement option. This ensures that your coursework is completed and presentations/publications information is up to date.
Fall Commencement
Applications are open September 1 through November 15
Spring Commencement
Applications are open through April 15.
Students who wish to participate in the UTEP Honors Convocation must submit their application by February 15 to be eligible for recognition at the ceremony.
Eligibility
Honor cord
- At least 2 semesters of satisfactory RSRC 4033 enrollment
and - One presentation
Honor stole
- At least 4 semesters of satisfactory RSRC 4033 enrollment
and - Two presentations OR a publication.
ONLY ONE AWARD will be given (the highest achieved)
RSRC 4033 verification
- Semester RSRC 4033 course registrations can be viewed in your goldmine transcript
- Must have received a grade of "Satisfactory" (S)
- Only ONE registration per semester counts if you had multiple mentors
Presentation/publication/exhibition verification

- presentation acceptance email
- registration receipt/certificate from the conference
- symposium or proceedings listing
- exhibition notes or technical program
- An image/video of you standing by your poster/presenting where your name badge is visible
- A pdf/jpg image of your poster IS NOT acceptable as proof of a presentation
- A video of your performance/artist talk during your exhibition
- Publications must be a notification from the publisher that your article has been accepted for publishing or the final version of the article with citation information
