Abelardo “Lalo” Delgado’s digital archive will showcase the scope of his legacy as a literary figure, educator and activist, as well as preserve his works that have long since been out of circulation. Though Delgado is celebrated as a foundational voice of the Chicano literary movement, his contributions remain overlooked on the scale befitting his work.

This project will visualize the chronology of histories, people, and events of the MEChA chapter at the University of Texas at El Paso, which, through their efforts created the first Chicano Studies program in Texas. The digital archive exhibit will focus on the power of student voices to represent the present and press for an affirming future for the communities and institutions they are a part of even in times of deep division.
