Richard GutiƩrrez
Richard Gutiérrez completed his 15th year as a part-time instructor in 2004. He initiated the evening classes for students in Introduction to Politics and American Government. These classes were never offered in the evening until Mr. Gutiérrez started to teach them. He continues to teach these courses in the evenings. In 2000 Richard joined the faculty as an adjunct.
Richard is enrolled in the Doctoral History Program at University of Texas El Paso. His primary areas of research are public schools in Texas and the politics of religion.
Mr. Gutiérrez also is in his third year as the Director of Project Shine, a program that places UTEP students in the community to tutor adults who are preparing for the citizenship exam and in English as a Second Language classes.
