Dr. Qin recognized as a 2025 High Impact and Innovative Teaching (HIIT) Award recipient
Dr. Yong Qin, Assistant Professor in the UTEP School of Pharmacy, was recognized as a 2025 High Impact and Innovative Teaching (HIIT) Award recipient for his transformational approach to pharmacy education. Through redesigning key components of the PharmD curriculum, Dr. Qin has strengthened student learning with a mastery-based, case-driven model that aligns seamlessly with national competency standards. His courses show measurable gains in student performance, supported by thoughtful scaffolding, formative assessment, and real-world clinical applications. Beyond the classroom, Dr. Qin is known for his mentorship of pharmacy, undergraduate, and graduate students, many of whom have earned national recognition and advanced into competitive research and clinical roles. His commitment to access, excellence, and high-expectation, high-support teaching reflects the mission of UTEP and the School of Pharmacy and continues to shape a strong pipeline of future leaders in healthcare.
