The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is responsible for overseeing and evaluating the use and care of animals in research, teaching, and testing.
1. Appointment of Members
The President of the University of Texas at El Paso assigns responsibility of assigning IACUC members to the Institutional Official (IO).
2. Committee Composition
The IACUC committee must consist of at least 5 members. Some memberships need to fulfill specific regulatory requirements while others have unique positions within the committee.
Required categories include:
- Veterinarian
- Practicing scientist
- Non-scientific member
- Non-affiliate member
