Our team is here to assist you! We invite you to stop by Room 723 in Kelly Hall on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, where a member of the Proposal Development Team will be available to provide you with the necessary support.
Enhance your research expertise through various professional development opportunities offered by Research & Innovation. These programs, led by internal staff, consultants, and subject matter experts, include workshops, training sessions, one-on-one coaching, and webinars focused on funding strategies, proposal development, and research impact.
Research Development also curates opportunities featuring external agencies such as the NIH, NSF, and DoD offering a selection of topics to equip faculty and staff with the best tools and resources to advance research and secure funding success.

This session will have a specific focus on the NSF and NIH and best practices for pursuing funding from each. Participants will learn what each agency funds, how each is organized, roles of program officers, review panels, types of grants funded, and the different proposal structure for each agency.
Lucy Deckard will provide tailored, personalized consultations addressing specific funding inquiries, including identifying potential funding opportunities, developing effective funding strategies, and addressing feedback from declined proposals. This guidance will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis after workshop registration. To make the most of your consultation, participants are required to have a proposal that is advanced in their development to qualify. Faculty are encouraged to send relevant materials to PropDev@utep.edu which will be forwarded to Lucy Deckard in advance. These may include draft proposals, solicitations, white papers, and reviewer comments.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) is instituting changes to their Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) 24-1 . These new changes to the PAPPG 24-1 will go into effect May 20, 2024 and will apply to all proposals due on that day or after.
