The Dean of Students Office provides leadership and coordination that support student wellbeing, access, accountability, and success. Together, these programs and services contribute to UTEP’s Community of Care by addressing students’ academic, personal, behavioral, and basic needs concerns in a coordinated and student centered way.
Through collaboration with Miner Support, Consultation, Advocacy, Resources and Education (CARE), and other Student Affairs partners, these departments help ensure students receive timely, appropriate, and compassionate support.
Student Support focuses on assisting students who may be experiencing academic, personal, financial, or social challenges. Through coordination and referrals, Student Support helps connect students to campus resources that promote wellbeing, persistence, and success.
The Center for Accommodations and Support Services works to ensure equal access for students with disabilities. CASS collaborates with students and campus partners to provide reasonable accommodations and support services that promote access, inclusion, and academic success.
CARE provides consultation, advocacy, resources, and education for students who may be experiencing personal crises, safety concerns, or harm. Using a wraparound approach, CARE supports student wellbeing through advocacy, referrals, and collaboration with campus and community partners.
Counseling and Psychological Services supports students’ mental health and emotional wellbeing. CAPS provides counseling services, outreach, and education to help students manage stress, navigate challenges, and remain engaged in their academic experience.
The Early Learning Academy provides early childhood education services that support student parents and University families. By offering high-quality childcare, the Academy helps students balance academic responsibilities with family commitments.
The UTEP Food Pantry supports students experiencing food insecurity by providing access to nutritious food and essential items. The Food Pantry plays a key role in UTEP’s Basic Needs network, helping remove barriers that may impact student success.
The Military Student Success Center supports student veterans, service members, and military connected students by providing resources, referrals, and advocacy tailored to their unique experiences and needs.
The Office of Community Standards promotes accountability and shared responsibility by addressing student behavior concerns and upholding the Student Code of Conduct. Through education and resolution processes, the office supports a safe and respectful learning environment.
The Student Government Association (SGA) is the official voice for all UTEP students. We represent, advocate for, defend, and serve the student body of America's Leading Hispanic-Serving University. We strive to create a positive campus life and enriching student experience by promoting collaboration between students, faculty, staff, and administration. We empower students to lead, be engaged, and create lasting impacts on the health, culture, education, and economy of the community we serve.
While each department has a distinct role, they work collaboratively with Miner Support, CARE, and other Student Affairs partners to ensure students receive coordinated outreach, referrals, and support. This integrated approach helps create a seamless experience for students navigating challenges or seeking assistance.
