The University of Texas at El Paso is taking measures to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and faculty during the COVID-19 outbreak. The Prospector has been serving UTEP’s community since 1915. Winning numerous awards, both editorial and advertising, The Prospector is read regularly by UTEP students, staff and faculty. Minero Magazine is the University of Texas at El Paso’s bilingual student magazine. It is published by UTEP students through the Department of Student Media and Publications once every fall and spring semester.
Prospector, Minero staff won 19 awards in 2018
The Student Media and Publications department at The University of Texas at El Paso nabbed a national honor with a second-place win for Best Video or Underwriting Spot, Residence Life, created by students Michaela Roman, Rene Delgadillo and Claudia Flores in the College Media Business & Advertising Managers 2019 Awards.
The department also took home a total of 18 advertising and journalism awards at the 2018 Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA) contest for a variety of print and digital work, including five first-place awards.

The students who work for these publications are provided an experiential learning laboratory and gain the relevant skills to become well-qualified professionals in any field.
We’re looking for motivated students with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn. We’re accepting applications for reporters, photographers, and designers as well as students who want to work in advertising and marketing.
