The TACC Lab, located on the third floor of the Woody L. Hunt College of Business, is an open-access computing environment available to university faculty, staff, and students.  Computer workstations are available with the software necessary for business courses ranging from accounting to database development.  Staff members at the TACC service counter are available to provide technical support in labs, classrooms, and department offices within the Woody L. Hunt College of Business.

Technology Resources Available

Computers

Labs are equipped with Dell All-in-One desktop computers with the following features:

  • Windows 10 Enterprise operating systems.
  • Computers equipped with optical drives and touch screen interfaces.
  • A suite of business, statistical, and developmental software installed on all systems.

Printing

  • All labs participate in the University Printing Solution.
  • Color and black and white printing available in all labs.
  • Wireless printing from your laptop, tablet, or mobile device is available.

Scanning

Self-service document scanning station available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Classroom Technology

Classrooms within the College of Business are equipped with multi-media capabilities. This includes an instructor podium equipped with a desktop computer, document camera, cabling to connect mobile devices, audio controls, and a ceiling-mounted video projector.

 Hardware Support

The staff at the TACC service counter are available to provide first-level technical support for University-owned computers and printers.

Support includes:

  • Computer hardware diagnostics and testing.
  • Warranty replacement of defective or malfunctioning computer components.
  • Help coordinate warranty depot repairs, if necessary.
  • Assist in deploying, troubleshooting, and servicing department printers.

Please note that TACC staff will not service hardware on personally-owned computers.

 Software Support

The staff at the TACC service counter can help troubleshoot software on the faculty, staff, and student computers.

Support includes:

  • Troubleshooting UT-licensed software installed on university faculty and staff computers.
  • Assistance with the installation of software that is available through the Microsoft Imagine Academic Alliance and UTEP.OnTheHub service.
  • Assistance with on-demand software available through UTEP My.Apps.
  • Help with open-source software loaded on lab or classroom computers.
