Program Overview
The Master of Accountancy is designed for students preparing for careers in professional accounting fields and for practicing accountants who want to deepen their expertise.
The program develops advanced accounting knowledge, professional writing, analytical skill and preparation for a dynamic business environment.
Students with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from an AACSB-accredited business school may enter the graduate course of study without completing additional leveling coursework.

The MAcc degree plan includes graduate accounting coursework and a capstone course designed to strengthen professional accounting preparation.

The MAcc program has a fall-only admission cycle.

Additional Pathways
Students can explore the MAcc, the Certificate of Accountancy or the Fast Track pathway depending on academic background and career goals.
The Certificate of Accountancy is designed for students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting from an AACSB-accredited business school and want focused graduate accounting preparation.
The BBA Accounting/MAcc Fast Track program allows qualified undergraduate students to begin graduate coursework while completing the bachelor’s degree.
Application note: GMAT scores are not required for the Certificate of Accountancy or MAcc Fast Track.

Yes. The MAcc is a 30-credit-hour degree designed to provide coursework that supports the educational requirements needed to sit for the CPA exam in Texas.
The average completion time is 12 to 18 months. Individual timelines may vary based on course load and whether students follow the planned fall, spring and summer sequence.
Yes. Classes meet on weekday evenings and Saturdays.
Students who have not completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting from an AACSB-accredited business school should consult the graduate accounting advisor about leveling requirements.
Admitted students may have the opportunity to apply for teaching assistant positions within the college or other university departments.
