Nathanael Rodriguez
Student, Master of Science in Construction Management
Nathanael Rodriguez hopes to one day have his own construction company. He heard about UTEP’s online construction management program through a friend who graduated from it and is also one of several UTEP students employed on the $648 million Fort Bliss Replacement Hospital Project led by Clark Construction here in El Paso.
Why he enrolled in the program:
I wanted to get more career options and greater freedom to build whatever I want wherever I want. With this degree I am able to join any project at any phase of the job.
His experience with online learning:
My first online learning experience was at my other university where I completed my undergrad. The online learning experience [with UTEP Connect] was great. I was able to submit my homework, as well as take my exams from home, which worked great with my work schedule.
On the support available to him as an online student:
I had support from the faculty from the College of Engineering. They were always available during their office hours, and a phone call away to help with any questions that I had.
On whether or not he has found the program useful:
Absolutely. The program (has) made me stronger (and more able) to overcome any obstacles and face any challenges in the construction field.
What he would say to a prospective online student:
Make contacts once you have choices. Your main point of contacts are your professors. They can help you think through your options.
