Newly Admitted Students
Now that you have completed your applications for admissions and financial aid, here is an outline of what you can expect moving forward.
Admissions process
Admission decision --> Transfer credit evaluation --> Creation of degree plan --> Receive advising email --> Set up advising appointment --> Register for courses
Please note that transfer credit evaluation can only take place after an admissions decision is made. Also, this evaluation is necessary to create a degree plan and proceed. Once advising opens up (timelines below), you will receive an email about setting up your appointment.

In the meantime, make sure you have uninterrupted access to a computer and reliable internet and then make sure you set up your student account. Your student account is the way in which you can stay informed and gives you access to the following important tools you need to stay up-to-date:
- MyStatus: Use this to view your Financial Aid Status, Admission Status, as well as your Holds.
- My.utep.edu aka your student portal. This gives you access to your email, your registration portal (Goldmine), Blackboard (your learning management system), and your holds and balances.Use this to register for your classes, accept your financial aid awards, view your degree evaluations, and access the UTEP Bookstore for a list of course-specific books.
- Email: Use this in conjunction with your Blackboard email to keep in touch with your professors, classmates, and UTEP departments.
- MyApps: Use this to access various software programs the University offers to students through VPN.
Once you have set up your student account, make a note of your student ID number. You will need this to get quick and accurate information regarding your account.
- You can check your admissions status at Application Self-Service.
