Recognition

Recognizing excellence through awards, honors, achievments, and impact across UTEP's reseach community.

Pathways to Recognition and Support

Research Advancement supports faculty in pursuing recognition through awards, honorifics, and internal funding. Among the resources produced is the bi-weekly Awards, Honorifics, & Internal Funding Opportunities bulletin, which highlights current opportunities to apply, nominate, and share professional achievements. Faculty are encouraged to follow the bulletin to stay informed and engaged in the University’s culture of recognition.

To be well-positioned for honorific nominations, faculty are encouraged to:

  • Maintain an updated CV and professional headshot.
  • Document the impact of their work through citations, metrics, and media.
  • Engage in professional activities such as publishing, presenting, and networking.
  • Seek and offer peer endorsements.

For programs that require the university to contribute its own resources toward the project, the applicant’s college or department must provide that support, and faculty must obtain written approval from their Dean or Department Chair before submitting the proposal/application. R&I financial support will be considered only in rare, exceptional cases; to request funding, faculty must submit a formal justification at least 6 weeks before the sponsor deadline.
