External Review

Proposal Development

External Review is an important step in our commitment to supporting your proposal development. We work with an external review firm to engage subject matter experts specially tailored to your field of study. These experts examine your proposal and provide valuable feedback and insights aimed at enhancing its competitiveness. Their impartial perspectives and rigorous analysis serve as catalysts for refining your proposals, ensuring they stand out amidst the competitive landscape.

Is the Process Confidential?

To protect the integrity of your work and our collaborative efforts, a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) governs the relationship between UTEP and the external review firm. This ensures that your ideas, methodologies, and intellectual contributions are shielded throughout the evaluation process, providing you with peace of mind.

How Soon Should I Submit My Proposal for External Review?

We request that a full proposal for external review be submitted at least four weeks prior to the proposal deadline set by the sponsoring agency. This timeline allows our external review firm ample time to conduct a thorough review and provide comprehensive feedback. It also allows you to have the time to implement their feedback before the deadline.

What’s the Cost of External Review?

Our commitment is to facilitate your research endeavors without financial barriers. This invaluable service is free of charge.

Will R&I Do My Revisions for Me?

While we can provide consultation and support during the process, the responsibility for revisions lies with the faculty. This ensures that the proposals are honed to their fullest potential before undergoing External Review again.
