IIE Awards UTEP Student Chapter

The student chapter of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) at The University of Texas at El Paso was recognized recently for achievements in 2007-2008.

The UTEP IIE student chapter has been awarded the Gold Award, an honor awarded annually to the most outstanding student chapters nationally and internationally.

The chapter, which has about 30 members, is advised by Dr. Luis Contreras, Professor of Industrial, Manufacturing & Systems Engineering.

The UTEP IIE student chapter organizes professional development courses for members, participates in National Engineers Week and career expos, participates in community service projects and organizes monthly meetings with special speakers.
