UTEP College of Engineering Hosts Manufacturing Day Tours and Presentations

The University of Texas at El Paso's College of Engineering partnered with the El Paso manufacturing industry to expand awareness about manufacturing. As part of the celebration of National Manufacturing Day, UTEP will host presentations and tours related to manufacturing on its campus Wednesday, Oct. 1 through Friday, Oct. 3.
There will be tours offered of the W.M. Keck Center for 3-D Innovation facilities from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 and Friday, Oct. 3. Additionally, from 9 to 11 a.m. both days, participants can view the actual manufacturing processes that happen in the lab.
The Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC) will offer two presentations. The first presentation, "Connecting the Dots: The Integration of the Components of the Lean Management System," will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2 and the second presentation, "The Strategic Role of HR in the Implementation of a Lean Management System," will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3.
The tours and presentations will take place at the W.M. Keck Center, which is located on the first floor of the Engineering and Sciences Complex on the UTEP campus. A map of UTEP may be found at maps.utep.edu. The campus can be accessed via I-10 East or West by using exit 18A.

Once on the page, please scroll down to W.M. Keck Center to register for tours or to register to observe the manufacturing processes. To register for the presentations, select TMAC – MEP.
Registration is necessary for parking and entrance to the facilities. For guaranteed parking, registration must be completed by noon Wednesday, Oct. 1. Late registrants must use the visitor's parking facilities found under "Visitor's Parking" at parking.utep.edu.
"We are excited to be part of Manufacturing Day and feel proud that our College of Engineering students and staff at UTEP are participating," said Bill Tseng, Ph.D., department chair and associate professor of industrial, manufacturing and systems engineering. "This event will help promote the essentiality of the manufacturing program on campus."
National Manufacturing Day takes place Sept. 29 through Oct. 3. The event provides an opportunity for manufacturers and schools with manufacturing programs to open their doors to the public. The event also highlights the rewarding jobs in the field and showcases manufacturing's importance to the economy.
