Paulina Valenzuela Joins Civil Engineering Team

The Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is pleased to welcome Paulina Valenzuela as its new Office Manager. In this role, she will oversee the department’s daily administrative operations, providing vital support to both students and faculty in their academic and research pursuits.

Valenzuela will serve as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and alumni within the civil engineering, environmental engineering, and construction management programs. She brings a strong commitment to service and is deeply honored by the opportunity to contribute to the success of the department.

“I'm looking forward to implementing servant leadership in this position, providing excellent service to students, faculty, staff, and alumni; and holistic collaboration across the University," Valenzuela said.

"My background is diverse, having worked for the City of El Paso local government, the YMCA, and as a stylist. Making a genuine connection with people is fulfilling to me and I'm excited to already be experiencing this at UTEP."

With a diverse professional background that includes experience in local government with the City of El Paso, community outreach through the YMCA, and client engagement as a stylist, Paulina has cultivated a people-first approach that aligns perfectly with UTEP’s values.

Valenzuela holds a Bachelor in Information Technology Management and has a passion for data, technology, environmental issues, and community engagement. A dedicated volunteer, she actively serves with organizations such as her local church and El Paso Water, a frequent UTEP partner.

Valenzuela steps into this position following the retirement of Concha Ruiz, whose extraordinary 38-year career at UTEP, 16 in the Department of Civil Engineering, has left a lasting legacy. As we celebrate Concha’s remarkable contributions and wish her all the best in retirement, the department is equally thrilled for fresh perspectives and dedication Valenzuela brings in continuing the tradition of excellence and support that defines our commitment to our students and the department.

Please join us in giving Paulina a warm Miner welcome as she begins this exciting new chapter with the Department of Civil Engineering at UTEP.
