Staff Profile: Blanca Carrasco

Blanca Carrasco, program manager for student success & strategic initiatives in The University of Texas at El Paso's Department of Civil Engineering comes from UTEP’s Graduate School where, as the assistant director for outreach and recruitment, was in charge of actively engaging prospective students in local, national and international recruitment events to better students’ ability to enter UTEP and earn graduate degrees. She has an extensive understanding of the College of Engineering and what an engineering student can achieve with their perspective degree as she previously worked at the College of Engineering as the educational outreach coordinator. In that position, she successfully coordinated the development and maintenance of articulation agreements and transfer guides between the college of engineering and El Paso Community College and served as the advisor for the Society of Women Engineers
As program manager, Carrasco aims to guide students to reach their best potential while they are currently in school. The opportunities that Carrasco will facilitate for students are in research and scholarly activities, student leadership, internships, study abroad, and community engagement which will help students grow to be confident problem solvers and critical thinkers. Carrasco’s office will be open for all civil engineering students that would like to make the most of their college career and find their strengths to become prolific in their field.
