Travel Support for Graduate Students
The Miguel A. Loya College of Engineering Dean’s Office is committed to supporting the research and professional development of our graduate community.
IMPORTANT: Before submitting your application, you must have requested funding from other sources (department, mentor, SGA, graduate school, etc.) and provide the final funding decision, including the amount awarded. If the decision is still pending, we will wait to review your application until a final decision is given.
Applications that do not include this information will not be considered for review.
Eligibility and Funding Considerations
To be eligible for travel support, applicants must:
- Be pursuing a graduate degree (MS or Ph.D.) within the Miguel A. Loya College of Engineering.
- Have an identified faculty mentor within the College of Engineering.
- Be enrolled full-time (9 credit hours) or be in the thesis/dissertation stage (3 credit hours).
- Present their research at the conference or professional meeting.
- Demonstrate that they have requested travel support from other available sources and provide verification of any funding requested or received from their department, faculty mentor, research center, the Graduate School, SGA, or other sources.
- Applicants must indicate all pending or awarded sources of travel funding as part of the application. Provide verification of financial support from other sources as part of the application process.
Award Process
- Travel support funds are limited and awarded through a competitive review process. Submission of an application does not guarantee funding.
- Due to limited resources, priority will be given to students who are presenting their research and who have demonstrated efforts to secure support from other available funding sources. International travel requests are highly competitive and may be considered only under exceptional circumstances.
