The Paydirt Promise
The Paydirt Promise is a program that covers 100% of tuition and fees for eligible Texas resident students with a family income of $100,000 or less, using a combination of grants and scholarships: money that doesn't need to be paid back.
All eligible students who complete the FAFSA or TASFA are automatically considered for the Paydirt Promise.
eligibility
- Be a Texas resident pursuing your first bachelor's degree.
- Have a family income of $100,000 or less.
- Submit a FAFSA or TASFA and all required documents.
- Enroll in a minimum of 9 credits each fall and spring semesters.
Students can be in the program for a maximum of six consecutive years. To remain eligible, you must:
- Make satisfactory academic progress (SAP).
- Earn 21 credits each academic year.
- Summer enrollment is not required, but can be used to meet the 21 credit requirement. If you attend summer, financial aid may be available.
The Paydirt Promise uses federal, state, and institutional grants and scholarships to cover your tuition and fees. If part of your tuition is paid by an exemption, military benefits, or other tuition-specific awards, UTEP will only cover the difference, though federal and state grants may exceed the cost of your tuition.
Paydirt Promise students with the highest financial need and who meet certain requirements, may also qualify for the Miner Success Grant to help cover other educational expenses.
