Eligibility for Federal Student Aid

Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident of the U.S. or an eligible non-citizen with a valid Social security number.

Must not be simultaneously enrolled in elementary or high school.

Must have received a high school diploma or GED certificate.

Admitted into a degree, certificate, or other program leading to a recognized educational credential:

Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).

Enroll in courses that are part of your degree plan/program of study (POS).
- Not be in default for any Title IV loan at any institution.
Other Types of Aid
Students who are not eligible for Federal Student Aid, may still apply for certain state and institutional grants by completing the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). SAP, POS, and other requirements may also apply to these grants.
Enrollment Level
Certain financial aid programs may require specific enrollment levels.
