Classroom AV Upgrades

Overview

Last updated Sep 5, 2024

A subset of classrooms is upgraded with the standard AV design annually by Technology Support’s Learning Environments team.

The upgrades consist of the following:

• A new laser video projector.
• Connectivity for up to six high-definition audio-video devices.
• A touchscreen control panel.
• Small form factor desktop PC.
• Classroom speakers*.
• 27-inch LCD monitor with built-in webcam.
• Windows wireless projection device.
• Apple wireless projection device.
• HDMI or USB-C connector on the instructor’s podium.
• Accessible power outlets on the instructor’s podium.
• Lapel and throwable mic system for classrooms with a seventy-plus seating capacity.
• The new projector, control system, and desktop are added to our central monitoring system.

*Applies solely in instances where speakers are non-functional or absent.

This standard AV design allows for a wide range of basic teaching and learning styles and needs; as well as allows for basic Zoom or Teams meetings, and basic lecture capture utilizing the monitor’s webcam, and the desktop computer via Zoom/Yuja integration. In larger classrooms, the throwable mic allows for more dynamic student engagement, discussion, and feedback with a mic that is tossed around to students for participation.
