Project Mentor(s) Information
The primary faculty advisor (instructor of the RSRC course) must provide their contact information. Primary mentors must have a full-time faculty appointment in order to be the instructor of record for an RSRC section.
Project Abstract (500 Words)
In this portion of the submission form the faculty mentor provides a concise description of the project including:
- Project Title
- Background of the proposed project, including the theoretical framework (if applicable) in which the project is grounded
- Overall project objectives and/or research questions
The project abstract should be written in a language understandable by individuals outside your area of expertise, while maintaining the rigor of the project’s discipline. Acronyms should be clearly defined. All application packets are reviewed by a multidisciplinary evaluation committee. Supporting images must fit in a single letter-sized page with their descriptions. These images would be in a separate one-page PDF document for upload into the Figures Document field of the application. The Figures Document is OPTIONAL.

The student/mentee will complete this form prior to meeting with their mentor in order to establish their strengths, weaknesses, and skills.

In this document the faculty mentor and student mentee will negotiate and agree on (including but not limited to):
- Mentee skills development objectives
- Communication plan(s)/meeting(s)
- Expectations of each other
- Outcomes/deliverables/timeline of milestones

The student personal statement should address the following:
- Why do you want to participate in the proposed research project?
- What prior academic courses and/or experiences have prepared you for the proposed project?
- What are your future academic and career plans?
- How will this experience benefit you?
