The College of Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso has been awarded a $174,846 grant from the National Science Foundation.
The project, titled "Building Partnerships and Pathways to Address Engineering Grand Challenges Workshop at The University Texas El Paso in Fall 2009," is under the direction of Dr. Carlos Ferregut, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research in UTEP’s College of Engineering.
The grant will be used to fund a workshop focusing on a select group of the National Academy of Engineering's "Grand Challenges for Engineering." It will provide a venue to highlight the research at Hispanic Serving Institutions that will engage a diverse group of researchers.
“This grant will provide the opportunity for UTEP Engineering faculty to showcase their research and to explore opportunities for partnerships with Tier 1 university faculty and government labs,” said Ferregut. “It will also provide graduate students with opportunities to listen and interact with experts that are addressing the Engineering Grand Challenges Workshop.”
