UTEP to Restart Miner Metro for Fall 2021 Semester
UPDATE – effective September 20, 2021 the West (Orange) route will run non-stop from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) at The University of Texas at El Paso announced that the Miner Metro Shuttle Service would operate the Orange and Campbell routes only to start the fall 2021 semester due to a lack of qualified drivers.
The West (Orange) route runs from Miner Canyon residential housing on the north end of campus to Miner Alley, located behind the Sun Bowl Parking Garage. The Campbell (Red) route serves those who travel between the Mike Loya Academic Services Building on the south end of campus and the Campbell Building, 1101 N. Campbell St.
Both routes will run non-stop from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and should operate on 15-minute intervals if traffic allows. Decisions were based on past ridership numbers. The office will bring the additional routes online as more drivers are hired. The popular GPS ap that shows the shuttle location along their routes is not available at this time, but will be in the future.
Miner Metro is a form of public transportation that serves UTEP students, employees and official visitors. As a result, the shuttles follow federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention mandates that riders must wear a face covering while aboard the shuttle with few health and age-related exceptions posted inside the shuttles.
- Miner Metro shuttles are FREE to all UTEP faculty, staff, students and official visitors.
- The lost and found is operated by the Campus Police, please contact them at 915-747-6640 or 915-747-6338 if you are looking for an item.
- Shuttles do not operate during Wintermester, summer
minimesters, University holidays or during intersessions.
Accessible Buses: In order to assist students with disabilities, wheelchair accessible buses are available on each Miner Metro Shuttle bus route during the normal operating times.
The University does not currently provide paratransit services within the campus. However, the City of El Paso’s public transit provider, Sun Metro, does provide point to point paratransit service from outside the campus onto the UTEP campus. The Sun Metro LIFT customer service line is 915-212-0100.
