Accounting Org Hosts Summer Networking Mixer at WestStar Tower

The Department of Accounting & Information Systems at UTEP’s Woody L. Hunt College of Business – supported by the Internal Audit Foundation – hosted a summer networking event at WestStar Tower in Downtown El Paso.
This event provided Hunt Business students with the opportunity to connect with local internal auditing professionals.
Why It Matters: UTEP is one of twenty-six universities endorsed by the Institute of Internal Auditors as a Comprehensive Internal Auditing Program .
To receive this recognition, universities must possess a solid internal audit curriculum and demonstrate a strong community partnership among the school, the local Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Internal Audit Foundation.
Connecting Students to Industry:
- Beyond UTEP: The event promotes collaboration with the El Paso Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Internal Audit Student Association, and graduate students in the Internal Auditing class.
- New Connections: Students met with academics and financial professionals to foster collaboration and innovation.
- Exam Support: Gleim Exam Prep donated two student vouchers for premium study tools for the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) exam.
In Other News: Hunt Business provides opportunities for students to interact with local internal auditing professionals. Area partners supported a group of students to compete at the 2024 Global Student Conference held in Orlando, Florida, earlier this year.
