Spencer Grant Expands Risk Management Opportunities
The Big Picture: The Prudential Risk Management Academy at the UTEP Woody L. Hunt College of Business has received a $10,000 general grant from the Spencer Educational Foundation — marking the first time the academy has been awarded this funding.
The grant will support six Risk Management Academy students attending Risk World 2025 in Chicago from May 3-7.
Why It Matters: Attending Risk World gives students exposure to emerging industry trends, advanced risk management practices, and networking with top professionals.
For first-generation and international students, this opportunity is especially valuable, helping them build industry connections that enhance career prospects.
Between the Lines: For many students, this will be their first time flying or traveling outside their local community
Beyond professional growth, the experience will broaden their perspectives, introducing them to new environments, industries, and cultures.
What’s Next: The selected students will prepare for networking, career-building, and learning opportunities at the conference.
The Prudential Risk Management Academy aims to expand these opportunities in the future, helping more students bridge the gap between education and high-demand careers.
