Young Alumni Program Builds Supply Chain Connections

Mentorship in Action
Senior supply chain student Izabela Martinez connected with alum Jorge Alvarado (BBA ’17, MBA ’21) through the Hunt College Young Alumni Mentorship Program.
What’s happening:
Over four virtual sessions, Izabela and Jorge talked career development, leadership, and the fast-changing supply chain field.
The mentee:
- Martinez is a senior in Operations & Supply Chain Management.
- Active in Women in Supply Chain Excellence and Women in Business Association.
- Completed a summer internship with Cummins.
The mentor:
- Alvarado is GM of ALPI USA’s Southeast Division, leading a $15M operation.
- Opened ALPI’s Miami office in 2025.
- As a student, he served as CEO of the Institute for Supply Chain Management and SGA senator-at-large.
Why it matters:
The program links current students with recent graduates who understand both the classroom and industry realities. Topics ranged from résumés and LinkedIn polish to building leadership confidence.
