ESLC Announces New Chairs, Hosts Leadership Retreat

The Engineering Student Leadership Council (ESLC) has announced chairs for the 2009-2010 school year. Chairpersons include:
- Internal Relations Chair: Sofia Escajeda, Civil Engineering
- External Relations Chair: Osvaldo A. Broesicke, Mechanical Engineering
- Finance Chair: Lucero Gonzalez, Mechanical Engineering
- Operations Chair: Jose Ernie Esquivel, Computer Science
In addition to the four chairs, ESLC membership includes the President of each engineering student organization and honor society and one other designee from each group.
The ESLC will host a leadership retreat August 21 for its members and officers from all the Engineering student organizations. Students will participate in workshops and plan for the upcoming school year. c
“Gaining experience outside the classroom is so important for students to learn,” said Gabby Gandara, Director of the Plaza and ELSC advisor. “In addition to learning how to plan for the year, these students are going to participate in workshops designed to develop their leadership skills. It’s a great experience for them.”
The ESLC is responsible for the TCM celebration, Homecoming float and activities and coordinates volunteers for UTEP’s Career Center for the annual Career Expo and the Engineering and Science job fair. The Council also serves as the coordinating body for student development funds to all organizations.
