Before you apply
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited university. The program welcomes candidates from a range of academic backgrounds.
A completed degree from an accredited university is required.
Coursework in business, finance, accounting, economics, or statistics is helpful, but not required.
A master's degree in business or a related field is preferred.
Working knowledge of elementary calculus and statistics is expected. Additional coursework may be assigned.
Up to eight graduate “leveling” courses may be required in addition to the Ph.D. curriculum.

Application checklist
Submit all required materials through the UTEP Graduate School application system.
Open the applicationComplete the online UTEP Graduate School application.
$45 for U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and Mexican nationals; $80 for international applicants.
Submit transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate coursework. Unofficial copies may be accepted with the initial application.
GMAT scores are preferred; GRE scores are also accepted. Scores may not be more than five years old.
Provide at least two letters from academic or professional sources familiar with your background.
Include your current academic and professional experience.
Explain your academic interests and goals in relation to your selected concentration.
One more step: A personal or online interview may be required.
International applicants
International applicants must submit an accepted English-proficiency score. Scores may not be more than two years old.

Financial support
Subject to funding availability and academic performance, admitted students may receive research and teaching assistantships for up to four years. Health insurance is included.
Incoming doctoral students may also receive fellowships covering in-state tuition. No separate fellowship application is required.
