ADA Compliance

The University of Texas at El Paso strives to ensure that all students, faculty, staff, and visitors have equal access to its programs, services, and activities, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA), and Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

CASS supports this mission by coordinating reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities and working with campus partners to promote accessibility and inclusion.

The UTEP Handbook of Operating Procedures (HOOP) outlines the University’s policies and procedures regarding accommodations under ADA and Section 504. These include:

  • The interactive process for requesting accommodations
  • Requirements for supporting documentation
  • The roles of CASS and the Office of Equal Opportunity
  • Procedures for resolving accommodation disputes
  • Information about confidentiality and privacy
  • Guidance for faculty and supervisors in implementing accommodations
